For Otterbein Cridersville resident Bob A., his independent living apartment is his sanctuary. It’s where he watches the sun rise and set each day, it’s where he visits with his family, and it’s where he loves to hang out and watch classic movies.
A Life Full of Experience
After 95+ years on this earth, Bob has seen and done a lot in his life. He grew up in the Jackson Center area and is a veteran of World War II. After running a truck stop in Indiana along with his wife for some time, he moved back to Jackson Center in 1953 and found work at the brand-new Airstream factory, where he worked for 36 years.
Finding Otterbein Cridersville
Fast forward several decades, and Bob found himself recovering from a hospital stay at a different Wapakoneta-area senior living facility. His son and daughter-in-law wanted to find a nicer apartment for him, so they went searching and came upon Otterbein Cridersville.
From the very first time they saw what would become Bob’s apartment, Bob’s son knew it was the right place.
“My son said, ‘That’s for Dad,’ because it’s facing the south, there’s a lot of sunshine, and that’s what I like. I spend a lot of time out in the sun,” Bob said.
Rest and Relaxation
When the weather is nice, Bob can often be found outside enjoying the sunshine. The rest of the time, he’s content to spend relaxing and enjoying his apartment. Most of all, he LOVES watching classic films. “I love movies, especially old Westerns,” he said.
His family also comes to visit him on occasion, and he’s looking forward to even more visits as COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease up.
Overall, Bob is very content with life at Otterbein Cridersville, and he appreciates the staff partners and everything Otterbein does to ensure his everyday life is simple and enjoyable.
“A lot of good workers here ― very polite and nice. They do a good job. The meals here are good, too,” he said.
