Hear how a ride to the dentist's office sparked a relationship between these two when they were least expecting it.
A Ride to the Dentist’s Office Leads to Love
After Barb’s husband passed away, she used the time to travel. She traversed across the country, visited her children, and even made it to Europe.
When she came back from one trip, Barb was in the dining room area at Otterbein St. Marys where she met up with a friend of hers, who was sitting among a large crowd of people.
“I asked her if she was free to give me a ride to the dentist on Wednesday, and she said, ‘Oh, I’m teaching that day.’ I said, ‘Oh well, there will be somebody,” Barb said. “The crowd started to disperse, and this little guy sat there at the table, and he said, ‘I think I could give you a ride.’ I said, why not?”
That guy was Bud. And as it ended up, Barb didn’t really need the ride after all, so she offered to take Bud for coffee.
“Apparently, it wasn’t too bad because about four or five days later, he called me and asked me if I’d like to go to dinner at the Inn at Versailles, and I said I’d love to,” Barb said.
While at dinner, the two of them entertained the entire restaurant, having a great time meeting the people around them and the staff — and enjoyed a bottle of wine.
“We had a blast, and the rest is history,” Barb added.
Bud said the night cost him a fortune, but of course, it was worth it in the end.
“I still haven’t recouped it yet,” he added.
“We had a moment where we both realized we were liking each other very much, so it wasn’t very long after that where I asked her for another date,” he said. “Like Barb said, the rest is history.”
