Alma, Maineville SeniorLife Neighborhood — A Story of Family
“All the people that work here are so kind and caring, every nurse and every aide — just everybody really shows they care. With everybody showing they care so much, it really feels like home. And, it’s really clean.” - Alma, Maineville SeniorLife Neighborhood elder
Alma has been a Maineville SeniorLife Neighborhood elder for over a year. She feels that she can get the help she needs in her daily activities. Due to challenges with mobility, Alma feels this additional assistance improves her quality of life.
The kind staff makes Alma smile each day, and she is happy that her sister has moved to a small house neighborhood too! She also adds that the nurses and aides are kind and caring, and she feels at home — part of the Otterbein family

Gayle, Perrysburg SeniorLife Neighborhood — A Story of Perseverance
“I am so glad to be back home (referring to her home at Perrysburg SeniorLife Neighborhood).” - Gayle, Perrysburg SeniorLife Neighborhood elder
Gayle has been a Perrysburg SeniorLife Neighborhood elder since 2019. She and her husband chose the small house neighborhood because they liked the small house setting, with individualized care and private suites
Shortly after Gayle’s husband, Tom, passed away in 2020, Gayle tested positive for COVID-19. In order to protect the other elders in her small house, Gayle relocated to an isolation room while she recovered
The temporary relocation was difficult because Gayle had to leave the private suite that she had called home for over two years. But with grace and determination, Gayle made the move while battling COVID-19 and grieving over the loss of her husband.
Thankfully, after her time in isolation, Gayle fully recovered and was so happy to return to her private suite with all her personal belongings and memories
Although Gayle has experienced a difficult loss and illness, she is happy to call Otterbein her home. She enjoys getting to know the staff and other elders in the house. Her strength and perseverance inspire those around her and serve as a great reminder of what life at Otterbein is all about.

Patricia, Otterbein SeniorLife Neighborhood — A Story of Success
“Even with COVID-19 restrictions, I felt at home. But naturally, I am happy to be getting back to normal interactions with my family.”

Due to a number of health issues, Patricia has been in and out of the hospital numerous times since December 2018. Following her most recent hospitalization, she was given a poor prognosis, forcing Patricia and her family to decide on long-term care
Collectively, they chose rehabilitation services at an Otterbein SeniorLife Neighborhood, where long-term care services were also provided and necessary to treat Patricia’s condition. Upon arrival, Patricia was dependent on the staff for most of her daily activities.
But with a dedicated interdisciplinary team and regular therapy services, Patricia has shown major improvements in regaining her strength, balance, and mobility. Because of her strength, determination, and success in reaching her goals, Patricia now has her eyes set on returning to her home

Small houses within each Otterbein SeniorLife Neighborhood feature 12 private suites, allowing for high staff-to-elder ratios and better quality of life. Skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation, and long-term care are offered at the small house neighborhoods.
