How Otterbein Lebanon Is Serving Residents During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Otterbein SeniorLife Lebanon continues to provide the highest level of services during this season of COVID-19. We’ve been coming together to creatively take care of our community’s residents in new ways - read about a few of them below. 

Dining at Otterbein

Although restaurant-style dining is currently closed, we have enhanced our in-home dining and meal delivery services. Our culinary team prepares hundreds of meals each day and delivers hot, fresh, specialty meals from our 1912 Restaurant kitchen to each resident’s door. 

The Great Wave Café also has an extensive offering on its menu, including stone-fired pizzas, salmon, burgers, and healthy deluxe salads. All the delicious meals can be customized to order and delivered. There are no delivery fees, and we have culinary deliveries happening all day, every day.

Groceries & Packages

Many of our residents have reservations about going out of our community to the local grocery stores during this time, so Otterbein has set up two options to assist them with grocery delivery. 

First, The Great Wave Market at Otterbein was set up with many essential grocery items, snacks, toiletries, and grab-and-go meals. Residents can call in to have their purchases delivered to their doors, or they can pick them up grab-and-go style.

Second, we have an amazing team of partners who take grocery, plant, and flower orders, pick them up from local grocery stores and greenhouses, and deliver them to our residents.

Enhanced concierge services have also been implemented during this time to assist our residents with mailing and receiving parcels, family care package deliveries, and newspapers.

Medical Appointments and Wellness Services

We assist our residents with setting up telehealth appointments, so residents don’t have to leave their homes and drive to a doctor’s office if the doctor is able to complete the visit virtually. 

In the Otterbein Clinic, our Wellness staff is proactively doing screenings and preventative testing on residents living in an apartment setting on our campus. This helps us ensure a safe environment and give peace of mind to our residents and families.

Virtual Events & Programming

Currently, many departments in our community are utilizing our on-campus TV station until amenities can safely reopen. We provide opportunities for residents to stay engaged, healthy, and connected through these shows, including exercise programs, game shows, and educational and spiritual programs. 

We are also using our Otterbein App, which residents can access on their smart devices. The Otterbein App presents our executive director’s updates as well as announcements and the current TV guide, all in an effort to keep current residents informed to the minute.
