We followed Otterbein St. Marys independent living resident Mary Lou around for a day to see how she chooses to spend it.

Take a look at the video below to see more.

Otterbein Adventures: A Day in the Life

9:00 a.m. - Mary Lou starts the day with a chair yoga class on campus to stretch out and get ready for the day.

10:30 a.m. - The front desk at Otterbein always has a phone ringing and people asking questions, so Mary Lou sits down to volunteer some of her time there.

11:30 a.m. - It’s time for lunch on campus! Mary Lou meets some friends at the cafe. With restaurant-style dining and delicious meals throughout the day, you never need to leave campus to eat if you don’t want to!

1:00 p.m. - Mary Lou takes advantage of the beautiful day and paths on campus and goes for a bike ride. Plenty of green space and wide-open views of the lake make for a scenic trip.

3:00 p.m. - It’s getting warm outside, so Mary Lou takes a quick cool-off break and ducks into the campus library to read her favorite newspaper.

7:00 p.m. - To cap off her day, Mary Lou takes a few moments to sit and reflect on a lakeside bench. It’s a wonderful pause in her busy day.

“Being here is the nicest part. There are so many things to do and the people are very friendly,” she said. “Whenever I have people come here to visit, they just love it.”
